What Tools are available?
LTI stands for Learning Tools Interoperability and is an integration standard for third party tools. Canvas supports LTI which allows third party tools to be easily integrated and used within Canvas.
Open Canvas does not have all the same features and LTIs as Penn Canvas. The only available integrations are Panopto and Study.net.
Only the Health Care Innovation and Ethics and Policy Online program has access to Study.net in Open Canvas.
The free version of Poll Everywhere can be used in Open Canvas Canvas sites. For more information, please see the pricing model for Poll Everywhere. There are also many options for embedding material. Solutions to a third party tool will be discussed during your consultation with the Online Learning Support Librarian.
Open Canvas is an evolving Canvas instance at Penn. If you’re interested in incorporating a new LTI into your Open Canvas site, please send an email to: lib-opencanvas@pobox.upenn.edu with your request.
Please note, all new LTI requests must be accompanied with (we recommend working with your Local Support Provider):
- Completed LTI Request Form
- Penn completes a security and privacy review for all third party tools called a Vendor Security Technical Assessment of Risk (VSTAR) so that any concerns are addressed prior to installation.
- We also request that vendors complete a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) so we can review tools for accessibility compliance.
